New Mexico Christmas of 2008
New Mexico Christmas of 2008
Wow, and what a trip it was!
Meredith and I arrived in the Moreno Valley, NM to find several feet of snow blocking our passage to Valle Vista(the Trailer). A snow plow was at Valle Vista, but the snow proved to be too deep for a Chevy S-10 Blazer to push.
After the arrival of Mom and Dad, we set to the task of finding somebody with a heavy piece of equipment to help us dig our way. After much exasperation from being turned down by seemingly everybody in the Valley, we found Adam Martinez, a man with a bulldozer and the will to use it. Several hours later, we were able to drive to Valle Vista. Over the entire vacation we would fight the snow’s advance across our path, and several times would be forced to hike to the paved highway. It would finally move us out of the Valley early.
We spent several days skiing at Taos Ski Valley, and we hiked at Wild Rivers Recreation Area, near Questa, NM, to the confluence of the Red River and the Rio Grande.
It was a good vacation.
