Welcome! Hope everything is fine with everybody!
We're coming to you tonight from the town of Clinton, Arkansas. We left our motel room this morning in Lula, Mississippi at our standard 8:15 A.M. and immediately crossed into Arkansas by using a two laned bridge across the Mississippi River. Neither of us can remember ever crossing that river on a bridge less than four lanes. We concluded the bridge must be fairly old.
For the next several hours, we moved west-northwest across endless fields of rice, soybean, and corn. In several areas,
water was across the roads. Luckily, the water was never very high, and the bottom was never soft. We made it through with no problems.
Ironically, besides the water crossings, most roads have been dusty. Dusty can be annoying, but he alternative(which is mud) is much worse.
Later in the day, we left the river bottomland. The land began to look just like home, except for a few rocks.
Late in the day, we came to the town of Clinton, Arkansas. The hills are bigger here, and it's obvious that we will be in the Ozarks soon.
We both feel that today is a milestone of sorts. We passed 1000 miles. It's hard to imagine that we're only 1/4 done. We can't wait for the other 3/4!
