“Hey, you’re the people riding the motorcycles across the country!”, said the security guard.

“Yes, we are.  Do you remember us?”, I said.

“You bet”, was the response.

It’s interesting what some people remember sometimes.  It had been well over a year since we had visited the Isle of Capri Casino, on the the Mississippi River, in Lula, Mississippi.  But, here the security guard remembered us.  I guess it’s not everyday that two people pull up to the Casino and Hotel riding dirt bikes, and looking like twelve year olds.

We had left Holly Springs, MS and traveled west into the Mississippi River Bottom, a short day of a little more than 100 miles.  By this time in our travels we were needing to slow down.

Kudzu, miles of soy beans, and rice were the order of the day, in terms of scenery.

We arrived at the Casino, checked in, and enjoyed the rest of the day in the air-conditioning.

The next morning, we arose and rode from Lula to Clinton, Arkansas, a distance of 200 miles.  The scenery reminded me of home, in that, trees were generally the same type.

In Clinton, we acquired a room and have spent the next day taking care of general maintenance: changing bike oil, cleaning air filters, and resting.  The Ozarks are awaiting us, and, it seems, a nasty low pressure system that doesn’t want to leave Oklahoma.  We’ve been lucky with the weather so far.  That luck may run out.  Time will tell.

See y’all down the trail.

P.S.  Meredith found this great rhino beetle in the parking lot of the motel in Clinton.  Pretty cool!
