“I’m sure our subway train will be coming from that direction,” I said, as our train pulled in from the opposite direction I was pointing.
It was a bit of an auspicious arrival into, in our minds, the wilds of a major metropolis. Then it was made all the more auspicious when I stepped up to the opening doors and found myself standing face to face with a gentleman holding a shotgun.
In that instant, the thought did occur, “wow, I’m about to be shot, and I won’t be wearing clean underwear.”
Luckily, I quickly realized, the man was a security guard and this train was carrying the subway’s money for the day, an armored subway, if you will.
